Food and water, let's face it are vital means
to your survival both immediately and in the future. When considering your
stockpiling consider bot those areas. As with everything, pre-planning is
essential. |

When Pre-planning Food Storage: |
- Can goods are good but they don't last forever and should be counted
on for immediate usage.
- Grain, oats and dehydrated milk are important to stockpile.
- Try to get a hold of M.R.E's. (Meals Ready to Eat) They are available
at Army surplus stores.
- Seedlings should be brought along with glass jars and untainted soil
for early plantation in the shelters.
- Stockpile for a long time! Think future needs as well, You will be
responsible for your survival, no one else.
- Pine needles simmered in water for fifteen minutes is an excellent
source of vitamin C

When pre-planning Water
Storage: |
- Water should be store in airtight containers.
- Water vats can be made by digging a ditch and lining it with garbage
bags.
- In time short situations water can be stored in garbage bags.
- Immediate drinking of water is fine in your shelter, but after a prolonged
time water must be boiled.

Some Helpful Tips To Remember: |
- Water from outside in a power-less society will NOT be safe to drink
- Food exposed to the elements will not be safe to eat.
- In a nuclear war, soil will not be safe to grow food on. You will
need to remove at least the first six inches of earth.
- Common household bleach in very small quantities can be used to purify
water. Boiling will not do it.
- Well water in rural areas is safe
- Water from deep in a body of water (i.e. a lake) Can be used for Consumption.
- Use a homemade filtering system (See link to useful items you can
make)
